D. Stewart-Lookkin is an interdisciplinary artist and educator who centers nurture care, fiber, objects and installation in their art practice. Their work was featured in the group show titled Precious Excess: An Exploration of Compulsive Acquisition at the Moonah Arts Centre in Tasmania, Australia. 

They recently received their M.F.A. in fine art at Brooklyn College. Awards and honors include the Yvonne Shortt Nature Open Call Grant (2023), Walter Cerf Fine Arts Award at Brooklyn College (2023), Brooklyn College Grad Student Teaching Fellow (2023), Kansai Gaidai University’s Academic Achievement Scholar in Hirakata City, Osaka, Japan (2004), the Unitarian Universalist Stanfield and D’Orlando Art Scholarship (recipient 2001- 2005), and the Packer Collegiate Institute’s Art Excellence Award (2000). In 2001, they were a US Congress-Bundestag Exchange Scholar in Karlsbad, Germany. 

They are a mixed, non-binary (they/them/her) femme born and raised in NYC where they reside with their partner, third grader and cat. They also sing and perform with the community activist troupe, Reverend Billy & The Stop Shopping Choir.
